The Initial Stages
Proposals
At Sustema our culture leads us to provide an in-depth understanding of the customers requirements at the onset of each project, which is vital to the successful conclusion of every project.

We believe, therefore, that it is important at the initial stages of the project to liaise very closely with you, the customer, to ensure that our proposed solution meets with your immediate and foreseeable requirements.

Conceptual designs are provided to meet your budget requirements, which include the appropriate level of technology for your existing systems and that can be practicably commissioned and supported

Project Management
It is understood that the ultimate success of any project rests upon meticulous and careful planning, with an excellent knowledge of the application and operating environment.

Our experienced systems engineering Project Managers provide a single point of contact, with total responsibility for the respective clients project. They will keep you informed at every stage to ensure that the system is delivered on time, ensuring the all milestones are met and that the project meets the required specification and within the allotted budget.

Our Project Managers work in partnership with the clients team, providing a shared information environment, ensuring responsibilities are known and time scales adhered to by providing design and progress reviews throughout the project duration.

Functional Design Specification (FDS)
Sustema integrated solutions culture places great emphasis on the initial engineering design phase of any project. The Functional Design Specification (FDS) is a concise, detailed and well-written, comprehensive document, which details all aspects of the project and is a major factor in ensuring that a project is successfully executed. This results in a well-designed and documented system. The FDS represents the most important document in the project cycle as it “defines" the user's requirements into functional definitions of how the system is to operate and perform.

User Requirement Specifications (URS) differ from client to client. They can range from a brief description of the process to a detailed technical document. Sustema’s design engineers, therefore, have to prepare a descriptive design document, (the FDS), which details every feature of the system to be provided. The FDS then forms an integral component of the contract between Sustema and the client. Therefore any variations that occur in the project can be clearly identified, thereby keeping both parties informed with a clear understanding of the original scope of supply.

An important function of the FDS is to provide a document from which the systems performance can be gauged. Our customers can accept, or reject a system, as fully meeting their requirements when we have tested it against the FDS.

This is achieved by inviting the customer to a full factory acceptance test (FAT).
